Pastor Cheryl to Return to Hospice Work

Hello My Dear Church Family and Friends,

As some of you may know my son was laid off back in June. In an effort to try and help him, I started searching on employment sites. About a week into July, I received contact from a hospice organization. My old resume had found its way to them through one of the sites I had been perusing. They were very interested in talking with me as they were currently searching to fill two hospice chaplain positions. Two interviews and several phone calls later, they offered my choice of position. I accepted the full-time hospice chaplain, to start training on Monday, August 31, 2026.

When I began with the Congregational Christian Church of Somerset, UCC, back on June 1, 2013, we covenanted on a 90-day notice. In trying to keep and honor this covenant, I would like to offer my end date to the Congregational Christian Church of Somerset, UCC, to be Sunday, January 3, 2027. Included on that day’s worship will be Communion and Service of Release.

During the time we have together, my availability will change. I will remain available on weekends in person

and via phone, text, and email the rest of the week. October 24- 31, I will be taking one week of my two weeks

of vacation. The final week will be forfeited. As my hours will be reducing, I expect to cut my hours from 32 to

24 hours a week, beginning in October.

Please know this is something I believe has been God sent. The area minister Rev. Dr. Ruth Shaver is aware

and will be available for the church to move forward into your next call and next church pastor. May God bless

us during this time of transition.
